I am a 69 year old active male. I have been running 3 miles everyday for thirty years with the occasional day off due to a cold.
One morning as I began my run, I suddenly experienced a pain in my left hip. I was able to complete the 3 miles but with some pain. I don’t remember having any pain in my hip during the remainder of the day.
The next morning I dress and start my run. Again, I feel the pain in my hip but it is much worse. I can not run.
I have not run in one week. I don’t have any pain when I wake up in the morning but as I walk around during the day, I do experience some hip pain.
About three weeks ago, I began taking an Omega 3 supplement derived from algae. Could this possibly have contributed to the pain??? (I have stopped taking this supplement)
I did a small amount of research online and the affliction with the symptoms most similar to my own was Bursitis. If it is Bursitis that I am experiencing, why would it happen so suddenly and without any change in my routine? (thus the Omega 3 question)
I have an appointment with a Sports PT at the end of the month. I was wondering if stretching the hip muscle until then is adviseable?
