Pain and restricted knee movement after 22 day of acl reconstruction surgery (Help please)

Question: Pain and restricted knee movement after 22 day of acl reconstruction surgery (Help please)

I am a student(21).I got my ACL broken while playing soccer(october 26th,2009).After conservative treatment of 7 months , doctor finally suggested me for surfery as the pain incresed day by day.
I had my surgery 22 day back(24th may,2010).My recovery was on right track and i was doing my physiotherapy timely.Even the doctor was fully satisfied when i went to met him 4 days back. The swelling around the knee subsided upto 70-80 percent.

But ,from the past 24 hours,i feel a lot of pain while doing the necessary excercises .As i try to straighten my knee, i feel a severe pain around the lower circumference of knee cap and also beneath the knee, though i am able to straighten it.Temporarily i am using "ICE PACKS" for lessening my pain and i have discontinued the physiotherapy excercises .I am still using crutches for walking inside my home.
Is there any recommended posture for sleeping?
Is this normal with the ACL operated patients?

Help will be highly appreciated.

Thank You.

Answer:

suggest you discuss these issues & questions with your surgeon. even several months after surgery, you need to elevate & use ice to help reduce swelling of the joint. follow your doctors recommendations. if your pain is severe and lasts longer than a couple of days, you may need to see the doctor.
