Groin Injury

Question: Groin Injury

Good Day,
I am 46 years old and i play 6 a side football twice a week on astro turf. I had a groin injury in December and stopped playing for two months. Saw my GP in London and he told me to rest till February which i did and the pain subsided considerably I tried playing last Sunday but after 10 mins i could not run only walk and i have stopped playing. I recently bought DMSO cream to use to massage the area of pain . I would like to know what sort of treatment that could speed up my recovery and what sort of gym exercises or activities could i engage in while i am resting as i don't want to put on too much weight which have lost by playing football
